The Orlando Urban Film Festival’s youth programs are designed to empower young people with essential media arts and communication skills. Through the “So You Want Your Name In Lights” Summer Camp Program and the “Jump At The Sun” Young Director’s Program, students learn to express themselves creatively through reading, writing, and visual arts.
Participants gain hands-on experience in screenwriting, camera operation, video recording, still photography, and production assistance. Students learn to set up professional equipment including cameras, green screens, lighting, and tripods while developing their skills as content creators.
The program emphasizes helping young people better communicate and express their feelings through writing, images, audio, media, technology, and visual arts. Students who excel in the program are recognized at the annual OUFF Hattie Awards ceremony, where they receive Media Arts Awards for their achievements in literature, filmmaking, and technical production skills.
This youth initiative reflects OUFF’s commitment to educating the next generation of filmmakers, artists, and media professionals, providing them with the tools and knowledge to succeed in the entertainment industry while building confidence in their creative abilities.
